WHEN YOU CAN'T THINK OF ANYTHING TO
WRITE ABOUT, HERE IS WHAT HAPPENS

AXE THE TAX & REMOVE GOVERNMENT
EMPLOYEES
Recently the above two major efforts were defeated; to kill the $833,000,000
tax increase from the 2004 legislature and take government employees out of
the legislature. We could do a lot of weeping over the loss and in particular
the effort put in by many good people but it would do no good. There is good
news though for future initiatives in that because of the Idaho Supreme Court
case our 10% requirement of 14 of 17 county majorities is no longer legal. In
the future if you need gather 10% of the number of voters from the last general
election it can be any place in the state. Had that been the case this time we
could have made it in just Clark and/or Washoe Counties.
THE ABOVE OPENS UP ENDLESS CRAZY POSSIBILITIES
AS FOLLOWS:
A. ELIMINATE GOVERNMENT UNIONS.
B. ALL FEES & TAXES MUST BE BY A VOTE OF THE TAXPAYERS.
C. CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM: ONLY NATURAL BORN PERSONS MAY CONTRIBUTE TO A CAMPAIGN AND IN THEIR DISTRICT.
D. SENIORS 70 AND OVER, EXEMPT FROM ALL SCHOOL TAXES.
E. ILLEGAL ALIENS WILL BE RETURNED TO THEIR COUNTRY OF ORIGIN AT THE EXPENSE OF THEIR EMPLOYER.
F. ALL CHILDREN ENTERING SCHOOL MUST KNOW ENGLISH.
G. PRIVILEGED LICENSEES ARE PROHIBITED FROM ALL POLITICS.
H. GET RID OF THE GOVERNOR IF HE DOESN’T CAP OUR TAXES.
I. AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST GET RID OF GOVERNMENT POLITICOS.
P.S. LET US KNOW IF YOU WANT TO DO ANY OF THE ABOVE. THINK OF IT,
IF THE VOTE IS 600,000 AND YOU NEED 10% MORE, THAT MAKES IT 66,000.
AND IF “A” PERSON CAN COLLECT 600 SIGNATURES THAT MEANS ONLY 100 PEOPLE
COULD GET THE SIGNATURES NEEDED FOR AN INITIATIVE AND ALL FROM CLARK COUNTY. WHAT A SNAP.
THE LAS VEGAS MONO (MONKEY) RAIL OUT OF BUSINESS AGAIN.
The wheel falls off the $650,000,000 mono rail and what will be next? Who knows?
Maybe Zorro knows. About 7 or 8 years ago I presented before the Clark County
Commission a four seat vehicle express system; an all off the shelf prefabricated
system at 10% of the cost. So instead of four miles of the present system we could
have built about 60 miles. Just think of it an individual vehicle and in non stop
mode where as now they are like a four car train with a packed sardine can concept
that stops at each station. This would have been a new system that could have been
designed and built totally in Nevada. In fact it was proposed as a new multi billion
dollar world wide business for our state but there was no interest by our politicos
and look at what a mess they bought into.
Some may remember that the original train at MGM came from Disney World in California
and was about 50 years old (sixty or more now). The new system seems to be just an
updated version of the old technology and one wonders whether the new one was engineered
for the very different use it is being used for? Where the old Disney train went maybe
10 miles and hour with no curves the new one is supposed to be high speed and has more
curves than Mae West with the question being, “was the new switching wheel engineered
for the new higher stress”? And guess what, the powers that be (Bruce Woodbury) have
already wired the expansion from the Sahara to Freemont Street then to Cashman Field
with Clark County sponsorship (billions of our tax dollars).
Lets hope that for some reason unknown before that there will be some wisdom come in
a flash of light to the Clark County Commissioners where in they will get off that
failed system and give what we suggested a further look. If you are interested you
can look at the web site that Dr. Ed Anderson has. It is: www.skywebexpress.com
In April when my wife and I were in Düsseldorf Germany I discovered the new little
2 or 4 seat Mercedes commuter car which also could be used in a dual mode design
where there would be a computer controlled platform in line that you could drive
the little Mercedes on, push a exit button and take off non stop, then drive off
and do your thing.
IS THE COST OF YOUR HEALTH CARE GETTING OUT OF HAND?
I think ours is and it is the $64 question on what to do. Regularly I am bugged by
Senior Dimension and if the salesman keeps it up I may have to change. We like many
millions of others have Medicare with a supplemental policy that pays the 20% and
other deductibles but without a prescription drug program. I even went to the Veterans
Administration thinking I could get approved as a WWII Vet. to at least be approved
to buy my medicine through the VA at a discount. Well no luck because they means test
you and if you have more than $80,000 in assets and $30,000 a year in income, just
forget it. Now we are going to get an increase in our Medicare of 17% on doctor’s
visits from $66.60 to $78.20 plus other raised deductibles so I know our supplemental
will go up again. Maybe we will need another senior revolt like we had some 16 years
ago when Nevada Seniors Coalition was formed. At that time they passed a
Catastrophic Health bill where they means tested you based on your income. I never
saw so many people get mad as hell all across the country and we started it all.
By the time it was over some 15,000,000 seniors had signed on to a petition to
kill the bill and in the next session of Congress they did kill it. THAT IS WHAT
WE NEED TO DO NOW OVER THE PRESCRIPTION DRUG BILL. KILL IT, KILL IT, KILL IT.
THE QUESTION IS, ARE THERE ENOUGH SENIORS READY TO DO IT? LET US KNOW.
