OUR WORLD IS TURNING UPSIDE DOWN AND WE GOTTA GO WITH IT.

Every day the mess seems to get worse and what do we do? Well mostly try to sit out as much of it as possible. Of course with fuel and food heading one way and that is up there is no getting around that in our life. I no longer can buy $20 bucks worth of gas as say great I’m good for another month and I don’t know how much to do other than wait until the tank is half full and just fill it up. On the Mazda van it takes $50 bucks now and so yours truly has less of my Social Security check to spend. And speaking of S.S. with that dam means testing there is less in that check than there used to be. So far, Wal*Mart’s 4 buck prescription plan is really the only deal in our lives. That was a big change in our living cost when they started that program. Who is going to drop the price of bread to $1.50 a loaf and a dozen eggs to $.98 cents? No one soon I think. The best deal we have so far on the eggs is the Egg Beaters original, they works for us so I can make scrambled eggs for breakfast with multi grain toast every morning and the price so far at about a buck per breakfast is not bad for two of us. What else is there that is going to eat us up alive? I suspect most of us with older cars are hoping for the best but paying thru the nose if we have to take ole Lizzy in for some work. Vern and Florence put me on to a pretty good garage but not all that cheap but not that bad either. I did buy a new engine several years back with the idea most of my costs are gone for a while but when you think of the add on’s like carburetors, generators etc. one has to keep praying that those units hold up a few miles more like another fifty thousand or more. One of our neighbors has an older more expensive car and every time he takes it in to the garage it costs him another $1,000.00 bucks or more so it depends on the car you own whether your cost of keeping it alive can also be very expensive. Oh well we have to roll with the punches and hope for the best.

A COMPUTER CAN BE AN EXPENSE WHEN YOU GET TAKEN IN.

I try not to look at too much stuff that sounds like something you just must have and boy it is hard to resist some times. I just ordered a new book on Natural Healing that sounded so good that I didn’t think I could be without it one more day. I sure hope that I read it cover to cover when it arrives. Both of Agnes and I have enough things bothering us physically that if we could get rid of half of them, the cost of the book will be worth it ten times over. I do believe in the natural healing idea but it is very important to find something that you can trust. In fact if any of you have had experience in the natural healing field maybe we could hear from you and see if some of these things might be worth writing about in future Foghorn articles. Let me know if you have had any successes.

LAST MONTHS ARTICLE ON ENERGY WAS SENT TO THE EDITOR OF THE LAS VEGAS REVIEW JOURNAL AND DIED THERE I GUESS.

I did think that the RJ might have some interest in the energy article I wrote last month with the idea that it might be worth publishing so that King Harry and others from our Washington contingent might read it and think it would be worth giving it a shot to see if we could maybe shake up the world hucksters who are sending the cost of our oil beyond the beyond. We have been poor bookkeepers of the treasury by letting our dollar fall to the lowest level in several decades thus causing every thing we buy outside of our borders to escalate to the point that it no doubt is hurting any number of households in we older folks as well as families with kids and even those with too much debt for homes, cars and the likes. Half our problem also comes from the fact that we have been locked out of our own fuel by a hand full of people who don’t want it in their back yard. Believe you me if we had oil in Nevada and we do, I am in favor of going after it as soon as possible. We really do need to get things going all over the nation to start our own oil, gas, coal and you name it type of fuel exploration and in ten years we could look like a different nation with our own fuel coming on line. There is plenty of fuel in and around our country and all we need to do is hit the start button and get going. How about it mighty leader Senator Harry Reid the man heading up the United States Senate? Don’t be so set in your ways please. I don’t even care if you can find some huge amounts of wood to burn so let’s just do something to show the Saudis that we can help ourselves. Half of our problem is to show the world we have our own energy and aren’t afraid to use it.

I suspect there are even some good areas to invest in like the worlds longest liquid petroleum pipe line leading from Alberta Canada into the North Dakota area. I am told that this is being done by the Enbridge Energy Partners and pays a 7.5% dividend. This sounds good and might be too good. Maybe they are for real but that would need a lot of investigation before anyone spent their money on such things. Well folks this is it for this month. I’m going to do a little fishing and I got to go.
